When my mom told me she was getting married, I was so happy for her. She had never been married before, and it took her years to find the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. She thought she would be okay with it just being the two of us after she adopted me 15 years ago when I was just a young teen, so I was ecstatic that she and her boyfriend were going to marry. I thought about the dinner menu for the reception, the wedding flowers for Melbourne, the dresses we would wear, and I knew that we were going to have a great time planning her happily ever after.
She told me the two of them just wanted a simple affair, which didn't surprise me. I was still planning on nice flowers though, and I decided that would be my gift to them. I wanted my mom to carry a really nice bouquet of flowers, plus I wanted flowers to surround them because she absolutely loves them. She wanted me in the wedding, and they invited only 40 people to a small reception.
That meant I had to get the two of us bouquets, plus get at least six or seven floral centerpieces for the guest tables. I also wanted a special floral arrangement for her table at the reception. She loves wildflowers, so I wanted one that had all of her favorite ones in it. Thankfully, I found a local florist who was able to create exactly what I knew my mom would love. She didn't see any of it until her wedding day, and she told me that the flowers nearly made her lose it. She realized just how much I love her, and just how much I will always be a part of her life, no matter what, because of them. That's the truth, too!
